1. Summary
LocalLedger is a native invoicing app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, published by Record & Learn LLC, an Ohio limited liability company. This page is the privacy policy for the LocalLedger app. It is not the privacy policy for the Record & Learn LLC marketing website.
- Business data you enter (clients, invoices, expenses, catalog, branding) is stored on your device with SwiftData and can sync through Apple CloudKit in your private iCloud database.
- There is no LocalLedger-operated server and no LocalLedger account. If you use iCloud, that account is Apple’s.
- The LocalLedger app binary does not include a third-party advertising or analytics SDK.
- Optional device lock (passcode / Face ID / Touch ID) secrets stay in the device Keychain and are not synced via CloudKit.
- Optional LocalLedger Pro is a one-time Apple In-App Purchase (product ID com.localledger.app.pro). Apple processes the payment. Record & Learn LLC does not receive your card details.
2. Data You Provide
Depending on how you use the app, you may enter:
- Business profile: business name, address, tax ID, logo, brand color
- Contact info: client names, emails, phone numbers, addresses
- Financial and commercial records: invoice lines, tax rates, payments, expenses, currencies
- Documents you create: generated PDFs, CSV exports, optional .llbackup files
- Preferences: template style, numbering, lock flags (not the passcode itself)
You control what you enter. Do not enter data you are not allowed to process under applicable law.
3. How Data Is Stored and Synced
On device
Primary storage uses Apple’s SwiftData framework on the local device. You can use the app offline. Changes remain local until network and iCloud are available.
iCloud / CloudKit (private database)
When CloudKit is available and you are signed into iCloud, LocalLedger can sync app records through the private CloudKit container:
- Container ID: iCloud.com.localledger.app
- Sync is scoped to your Apple ID’s private database. LocalLedger does not use a public CloudKit database for business records.
- Record & Learn LLC cannot access, read, or retrieve records stored in your private iCloud database.
Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy practices also apply to data stored in iCloud. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Device lock (Keychain)
- If you enable passcode protection, LocalLedger stores a hash of your passcode in the Keychain with accessibility limited to this device when unlocked.
- Face ID / Touch ID / Optic ID use Apple’s LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric templates never leave the Secure Enclave / OS-managed biometrics stack.
- Lock settings (enabled flags) may sync via CloudKit; the passcode secret does not.
4. Backups and Exports You Create
CSV, PDF, and .llbackup files are created only when you choose Share, Print, Export, or Backup. Those files are written under your control (Files, Finder, AirDrop, and similar). LocalLedger does not upload them to a developer-operated server.
Restoring a .llbackup can replace local data on that device. Confirm before restoring.
5. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs in the LocalLedger app.
- We do not build advertising profiles from your invoices.
- We do not require a separate LocalLedger account (iCloud is Apple’s account, if used).
- We do not operate a LocalLedger server that stores your invoices, clients, or expenses.
6. Tracking — This App vs This Website
LocalLedger the app does not track you across apps or websites for advertising. The app’s privacy manifest sets NSPrivacyTracking to false. The app binary does not include an advertising or analytics SDK.
This marketing website (recordandlearn.info) is separate. The website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how public pages are used. Website analytics are described on the company privacy policy, not on this LocalLedger app policy.
7. Children
LocalLedger is intended for business use by adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region).
8. Your Choices
- Sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud for the app in system settings to stop CloudKit sync; local data remains on the device.
- Delete app data by deleting the app (and managing iCloud data in system settings if needed).
- Export or back up data before deleting if you need a copy.
- Disable device lock in Settings if you no longer want Keychain-based protection.
9. Legal Bases (Where GDPR / UK GDPR Apply)
Processing of business contact and invoice data is typically based on contract or legitimate interests of running your own business records in the app you chose to install. You are the controller of client data you enter. Record & Learn LLC provides the software that processes that data on your devices and, if you enable it, via Apple iCloud under your Apple ID.
10. International Transfers
If you enable iCloud, Apple may process data in regions where Apple operates iCloud infrastructure, subject to Apple’s terms.
11. In-App Purchases
Optional LocalLedger Pro is a lifetime (one-time) In-App Purchase with product ID com.localledger.app.pro. Apple processes the transaction through StoreKit. Record & Learn LLC does not receive your payment card number, billing address, or Apple ID password.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when features change. The last-updated date at the top of this page will change. Material changes should also be reflected in App Store privacy labels.
