Quick facts

You missed class. Someone shared a recording, or the LMS has the file. Here is how to catch up on iPhone with one import → notes/flashcards/quiz → recall pass — without inventing study stats or replaying the whole lecture first.

Input

A recording you have

Classmate share, LMS download, Voice Memo, Files, or a link — one lecture at a time.

First step

Import

Get the file into Record & Learn. You do not need to have recorded it yourself.

Output

Notes, cards, quiz

Notes, flashcards, and adaptive quizzes from that same missed lecture.

Catch-up pass

Recall first

Answer before you look. Replay only the short gaps the quiz reveals.

Privacy

On-device default

Record & Learn starts locally. Cloud or extra AI features are optional.

Claims

No invented stats

No studies, minutes, grade promises, traffic, or ratings on this page.

Step by step

Missed class → one file → recall, not a full replay.

Step 1

Get the recording you already have

Use a classmate share, an LMS download, a Voice Memo, a file in Files, or a link. Start with one lecture so the cards stay tied to that session. Ask permission before you reuse someone else’s recording.

Step 2

Import it into Record & Learn

Open the app and bring that file in. You do not need to have been in the room with a mic. On-device is the default; optional connected features stay optional.

Step 3

Turn the missed lecture into notes, flashcards, and a quiz

Let the app make notes, flashcards, and adaptive quizzes from that recording. Skim the notes once so you know what the cards cover — that skim is orientation, not the whole study session.

Step 4

Do one catch-up recall pass

Go through the new cards and take one quiz. Say or write the answer before you flip. When you miss something, jump to that part of the recording instead of restarting from minute one.

Step 5

Hand off to spaced practice or exam prep later

After the first catch-up pass, reuse the same material over later sessions. Spaced practice and exam-week loops each have their own guides.

Why catch-up is a different job than “I was there”

If you attended class, the 24-hour review guide fits: convert soon, then one recall pass. If you missed the session, the bottleneck is different — you need the recording first, then a way to study it without a three-hour replay.

Record & Learn turns captured or imported content into notes, flashcards, adaptive quizzes, and spaced practice prompts. For a missed lecture, that means one import becomes something you can answer questions about.

Import once; recall before you binge-replay

Replaying the full missed lecture feels productive and often is not. Convert the file, then answer from memory. Use the recording as a spot-check for gaps the quiz exposes.

Adaptive quizzes are the same loop against your own material. If a question surprises you, that is the part to reopen — not a signal to invent a grade promise on this page.

Permission and honesty

Classmate recordings and LMS files may have school or instructor rules. Ask before you share or reuse them. This publisher guide does not claim a special import path for every LMS.

Open /en/apps/recordandlearn/ or the App Store listing for the live iPhone build. Optional cloud or extra AI features can involve Apple in-app purchases. Optional extras are not “no paywalls.”

FAQ

Short answers to the questions people usually ask next.

How do I catch up after missing a lecture on iPhone?

Import a classmate recording, LMS download, or Voice Memo you already have into Record & Learn, turn that one file into notes, flashcards, and a quiz, then answer from memory before you replay the whole class.

Do I need to have recorded the class myself?

No. This guide is for a recording you already have — from a classmate, your school LMS, or another capture app. Ask before you share or reuse someone else’s recording.

Is this the same as reviewing within 24 hours?

Related, not the same page. The 24-hour guide assumes you were in class and convert soon after. This guide is for catching up when you missed the session and need one import → recall loop.

Should I replay the whole recording first?

Not as the main study step. Convert once, then use cards and a quiz. Replay only the short gaps the quiz reveals — not the full file from minute one.

Does this page invent study stats or rankings?

No. It does not cite studies, invent minutes, grades, traffic, or App Store ratings. Outcomes depend on the work you put in.
